Tuition fee - Group classes
- The fee is calculated on the total number of classes planned for the semester.
- Tuition fee can be paid in 3 installments during the 1st semester (August to December) and in 3 installments in the 2nd semester (January to May).
- Tuition fee can also be paid as one semester payment for (Aug-Dec) and one payment during (Jan-May)
- Due by the 15th of the specified month.
- For new students, the tuition is prorated from the date of enrollment and charged by semester
- A fee of $10 will be charged if the fee is not received by the 15th of each month.
- Arangetram and Salangai Pooja: Must pay at the end of each month.
- All new students will pay a one-time registration fee of $25.
- All classes must be paid for.
- Fee adjustment will not be made if students choose to miss classes in between or skip a month.
- Fee cannot be prorated for missed days or months.
- Refunds are very limited and are considered for unforeseen circumstances, and have a fee associated with them.
- Payable through Zelle to 832-782-4449. Must mention the student's name in the memo.
- Payable by check to “Abhinaya School of Performing Arts”. Must write the student's name and the month at the bottom of the check
- Payable by cash only for semester payments. Must put cash in a ziploc bag with the student’s name and month written on the bag.
- Your child has a reserved time for his or her class. The instructors are there to teach your children, even if your child does not show up. While Abhinaya School will do everything possible to find the perfect fit for you, it is your responsibility to schedule your lesson at a time that fits your child’s schedule. In order to see continual improvement and maintain sustained interest, it is important that attendance be consistent. Students must be regular in the dance classes and be on time. They are required to be present at the dance class 5 minutes before their scheduled time. Please send an email or call and leave a message if the student cannot make it to the class. You may text/WhatsApp the student's teacher. Students arriving late will miss the stretches and warm-up activities, which are an important part of dance class.
- Up to 2 absences can be made up for students in Pre-natyam to level 2. They will do the makeup in for missed classes with another group. It will be available upon parent request and should be taken on the day it is made available. The make-up class could be a class at the same level or any other technique class, ranging from 30 minutes to 1hour.
- Only one absence can be made up for students in level 3 and above.
- Extra rehearsals for performances are considered make-up lessons.
- No makeup class will be offered to students doing one-on-one lessons.
- Bad weather day will be made up on Zoom.
- Students will need to bring a hard-bound composition book to class. They will use it to log their lessons, homework, and theory will also be given. Students from Grade 4 onwards will need to bring a pen to the class. Parents must find time to check their logs and sign them.
- The dress code for dance classes is a kurthi top with ankle-length leggings, preferably in cotton. Students must wear a dupatta or a shawl to tie around their waist. Strictly no tight jeans, patialas, flared pants, jeggings, or parallels. Tank tops, frocks, or t-shirts are not permitted. Hair must be tied up in either a single pony or braided if long. Bangs must be pinned backwards. If the student is coming directly from school or another class, she/he can bring the dress along and change it before the class. Wearing a bindi is encouraged.
- All cell phones must be switched off during dance class hours. Students will not be allowed to text during dance class. Students found to be playing with cellphones during class will be stopped from bringing phones to class.
- Parents must leave their little ones (brothers and sisters of the students) at home if they have to wait in dance class. If parents must bring them along, they will need to take care of them, keep them busy, so that they do not disrupt the classes.
- Only water bottles are permitted in the dance class. No food, juices, or sweetened drinks allowed. Please put the student's name on the water bottles. No food is permitted in the waiting area or the classrooms.
- Parents are requested to drop their kids off and come back for them after one one-hour class or wait in the waiting room. Class observation by parents is restricted to one class per month, which is generally the last class of the month. Please get in touch with the teacher to observe a class.
- Please notify us by sending an email to [email protected] if they wish to withdraw from the dance class
- All materials, music, video, and notes are for the use of Abhinaya students only. Most of the music given to students is custom-recorded and copyrighted. They must not be copied, forwarded, or distributed under any circumstances. Parents cannot re-choreograph or alter the choreography of the dance learnt at abhinaya School
- There will be one theory exam and one dance exam from the 2nd year onwards. A progress report will be sent to the student. Students must take the exams.
- All students currently enrolled will perform one well-rehearsed dance, 5-10 minutes long, during the annual day, which will be held in April or May. They will also take part in the grand finale. There will be a separate fee for the Annual Recital. All regular session students need to attend classes from August'25 to May'26
- Must refrain from posting pictures or practice videos, or dance class performance videos on You Tube or Facebook publicly without the teacher's permission. Recital videos are given for students to watch their performance. Refrain from posting clips of videos on social media you tube, or any other video platforms.
- Parents, legal guardians of minor students, and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during, or after class time.
- The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs or videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
- All students aspiring to do their Arangetram must have completed one margam of 8 traditional dances, including Varnam, in group classes. Preferably, they must be in grades 10-12. The teacher will decide if a student is ready for an Arangetram. Please contact Mrs Indrani in advance for more details. Dates for Arangetrams will be filled up in February of the previous academic year.
- Participating in performances helps students to practice more and encourages them to improve their skills. Students performing Abhinaya dances in private functions, parties, and other festivals must obtain permission to perform dances learnt in class. They must practice their dance well, wear a Salwar Kameez, or in their dance outfit. Modifying the choreography of dances learnt is not allowed. Students must mention of teacher’s name and school.
- Generally, the teachers will recommend a student/students is he/she/they are ready to take part in competitions. Students or groups of students taking part in competitions will need to have special training and will have to pay for extra classes. All competitions will have entry fees.
